UPDATE: Now includes versions for the older, decommissioned H-series trains, a half step down from the ones used on the current T-series trains! For added nostalgia!

The sounds of the TTC were designed to cut through the chatter and noise of busy stations. This makes them ideally suited to use as ringtones.

Not only that, but they are iconic sounds, one of the unique aspects of life in Toronto.

Now you too can dread service interruptions and experience that Pavlovian response--"run....RUN, the doors are closing SHIT SHIT SHIT"--even when you're not riding the TTC!

I made both "authentic" and "simple" versions of the alert sound and the door opening and closing chimes. The "authentic" versions are attempts to recreate the particular sound of the chimes in the station, including the slightly off-tune door chime and soft reverb on all tones to simulate being in an empty station. The simple versions are just analog triangle waves with the same notes, making a more minimalist yet still distinctly Torontonian pair of ringtones. I tried to make both in a pitch range suitable for ringtones, and nice and loud so that they'll be audible.

These ringtones were created by me (not sampled), and are a tribute to a city I love and one of its defining institutions.
